In relation to curtains and blinds the decision was not to keep rolls of fabric but to provide the customer with sample books of various textures of fabric. This meant that the correct texture and design could be chosen for the particular room in question. Having picked an appropriate colour and texture the decision was then made as to what style was best suited to the room.

The style of window treatment varies over the years and this is influenced by what the fashion experts in the various women’s magazines are dictating. The normal woman in the street will decide on a relativity simple style i.e. curtains, plain style frill and tie backs or metal or wood pole with eyelets.

For the more affluent person and business premises a more elaborate treatment may be appropriate i.e. interlined curtains with heavy fringed pelmets in a swags and tails or jardinière shape.

Roller and vertical louver blinds are still the most common form of inside recess window blinds with great emphasis placed on washable blackout fabrics. In particular the PVC version of these fabrics are hugely popular. The blind sample books offer a kaleidoscope of colours and patterns. Having chosen either curtains or blinds or both, a visit to the customers house is arranged and the appropriate measurements taken to enable the order to commence. Once the order is made up the items are then installed to the customer satisfaction.
